The Prelios Group: Fico Eataly World wins at the 2018 MIPIM Awards

Cannes, 15 March 2018 – The FICO Eataly World project, funded by Prelios SGR through Fondo PAI - Parchi Agroalimentari Italiani (the PAI Fund - Italian Agri-food Parks), and managed by Eataly World, has been declared one of the winners at the 2018 MIPIM Awards, the “Oscars” of the real estate sector founded in 1991. The awards are given out every year by MIPIM, the biggest international real estate exhibition, that draws to a close today, 16 March, in Cannes.

Sponsored by CAAB, Eatalyworld and Prelios SGR, with involvement from the leading Italian institutional investors, FICO Eataly World in Bologna is the largest agri-food park in the world, sprawling over 10 hectares and housing the wonders of Italian biodiversity. FICO became a reality thanks also to the contribution of Prelios Integra – also part of the Prelios Group – responsible for the project management of the entire park, which opened in November 2017, as well as the subsequent development stages.

FICO Eataly World won the Best Shopping Centre category of the MIPIM Awards, fending off its competition, namely the Rive Gauche project in Charleroi (Belgium), the Suzhou Center in Suzhou (China), and Tokyu Plaza Ginza in Tokyo (Japan). This category in which FICO won the prestigious award honours the best shopping centres, retail parks and outlet stores that are capable of offering a unique experience thanks to the latest technologies, the very best services, and cutting-edge architectural features.

Opened to the public on 15 November last year, in its first five months FICO Eataly World had already seen more than one million visitors from Italy and further afield pass through its gates. The park is a one-of-a-kind attraction on a global scale: the New York Times listed FICO and the Emilia-Romagna region among the 52 places to go around the world in 2018.

“FICO has been honoured with an exceptional award, one of the most prestigious in our sector in the entire world,” said Riccardo Serrini, General Manager of the Prelios Group. “The MIPIM Award that we have won today first and foremost recognises the determination of the minds behind the creation of the FICO project, and has recognised the Prelios Group’s role as a partner in this incredible endeavour. It is also an accolade that can be the pride of Italy and everyone who helped bring FICO Eataly World to life, as well as those who work day in, day out, to ensure its success.”

“It is an honour to accept this prestigious international award,” said Andrea Cornetti, General Manager of Prelios SGR, collecting the MIPIM Award in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. “We share this award with everyone who believed in this project from the outset, from the public sector to the private sector made up of a large number of investors. I would therefore like to thank all the stakeholders who took part and made this wonderful project a reality.”
